Timmy and Butters are together again RIP

Sadly My wife's Guinea Pig Timmy died on the 14th December 2009 aged just 7 months. After trying to find his brother a new buddy over the following month, with no luck, Butters also died in the night aged just 8 months, following emergency dental work. He never seemed the same piggy after Timmy died and I guess deep down he missed him too much to fight on.

I am so sorry that you lost your two gorgeous boys so soon after each other! You must feel quite devastated.

RIP Tim and Butters - popcorn together again on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge
 
I feel really gutted but my wife really was in tears this morning. When I told the vet they were originally bred for show, he gave me a knowing look as though he doesn't agree with show piggies because of these reasons
 
Sadly, it depends on the breeder and how conscientious he is; there are some very careful and caring ones around, but not all of them are sadly like that.

I hope that you won't give up completely on giving guinea pigs a loving home, even though you may want to have a bit of time to grieve your sad loss before you start looking again. Perhaps you would like to try and rehome from a rescue next time? There are some equally gorgeous piggies desperately needing a good place.
