Hi there, i'm in need of some advice regarding timothy hay. I am going to purchase some & they have an option for 2013 or 2014 cut. Which do you all think would be better for my guinea's? I guess 2014 would be fresher but it say's there is more brown leaf matter than the 2013 batch?
Here is a link to their page . . . http://www.timothyhay.co.uk/collect...timothy-hay/products/2014-20kg-of-timothy-hay. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Tracey.

oh - that's interesting. I bought some from this website about a year ago and ordered another batch about a month ago . The 1st batch was very stalky . The 2nd batch is much softer - I wouldn't use it as a bedding hay but it is great in hay racks / toilet roll holders. I would go for the 2014 cut if I were you - my guinea pigs love it.

Thanks for your reply piggieowner! My bunch have meadow hay for bedding so this was just to munch. Just wasn't sure if fresher was better if it had more dry leaves. I'm guessing they will probably enjoy it either way though :0)

Can't hep you there, I'm afraid. I have never used that website. The one time I offered my lot timothy hay, they wouldn't touch it.
They prefer Ings hay, which I get from "Hay for Pets."

I would check how much you want to order if you are using this as "special" hay rather that hay for bedding. I find a 3kg parcel is plenty.

I like to give my guinea pigs a variety of hay and use hay for pets Ings hay too.

I ordered from them just a couple of months ago, there wasn't a choice then! What ever I had, it went down well!
