I got some timothy hay with Boofles cage yesterday. And I dont know if its just me or not. But it seems very straw like. Nothing like the normal hay I buy for my girlies, which is softer. Is this ok?

don't know about its use for guineapigs, but i get timothy hay for my rabbits and it is very straw like in its shape but should be very green.
Well its not green like the other hay I have. Might just take it out of her cage and give her the normal stuff

I bought some Timothy hay for my guineas and none of them went near it! I ended up giving it to someone who had a rabbit.
OKIKOWKIE.. I think I might take it out and put normal in. Shes expecting so its really important she eats it

Mine have the P@H timothy hay and love it. I also buy them Alfalfa King timothy hay and Oxbow when I can afford it.
I shall watch her for the next few hours and then I shall change it if shes not eating it.

It's fairly common to get slightly worse hay at this time of the year. Some batches will be more brittle or have smaller pieces. It's the weather conditions I'm told...
It just seems very course. Not as soft as the stuff I normally have. And does actually look like straw.:red

Out latest batch of meadow hay is a bit coarse too suppose it depends on the weather.

I just use Timothy Hay in their hay racks and meadow hay in their beds as it's softer.

Hay does get worse with the weather, may just be a 'bad bag' (not actually bad, but not as nice and green etc) I've noticed it at work, some of the bags of hay look nice and green while others look brown and dry and bleugh. I know hay's meant to be dry but you get the idea 
Madams been cleaned out and my normal hay has gone in. The other stuff was just too dry and yellow. She stayed in the cage while I cleaned her out, and she loved it. Even came up to the edge of the base and stuck her nose over the edge to say hello. Shes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lovley. I'm glad I got her, and I hope she goes through the rest of her pregnancy with the best of health.
She seems to be fairly clean as well, she poops and pee's in the same spot,so I am going to get a corner loo I think.
Might stick that hay in my hubbies wormary.

Yeah he goes fishing alot. Has a big water butt at the end of the garden filled with compost.
