As its been so rainy recently, my pigs have spent less time in their run and the majority of time in their hutches. I noticed Tim was getting a bit porky, and put it down to less exercise. But feeling his tummy its quite taught. It worried me that it was bloat, but it doesn't hurt him to have me prodding around his stomach and his droppings are still ok? He's put on 100 grams over the winter, is a fat pigs tummy usually as tight as this?

Have you compared what he feels like to other piggies? Most pigs, including the porkers, feel fairly soft with no lumps or bumps. The easiest analogy is that the abdomen should feel like a breast exam (sorry fellas, but most of you know what they feel like too).

Yes in comparison to my other pig he's very tight. There's no lumps or anything he's just ballooned a bit. Might be vet time :-/
 
Well took him to the vets and turns out he has a lump in his abdomen pushing his organs around, hence why his tummy felt abnormal. Gone in for op today for them to find out what it is,but its not looking good for my little pal. Healing vibes Timmys way please!
 
I am very sorry to hear this; all fingers crossed here for Tim!

Thank you. Very sad news I'm afraid. He had a tumor the size of a tennis ball in him. Told the vet to put him to sleep whilst he was already under for the op. I had already said my goodbyes this morning incase this happened. He wasn't even 4 years old bless him. At least he was his happy little self 'till the end. :'(
 
OH NO that is such sad news, but hey, at least he was happy right until the end little guy. RIP now little Timmy, goodnight and God bless you.:rose
 
Oh gosh, what a poor little piggy! I am so sorry for you. RIP little Timmy.
 
Oh dear :( so sorry to hear this, RIP Tim, I'm sure you are popcorning around over the Rainbow Bridge with a lovely soft tummy xxxxxxxxx
