We got 2 7 week old guinea pigs about a week and a half ago we had them out about 3 days ago and saw what looked like running lice on them (little white worm looking things) so we treated them with invectmine spot on and checked again today and saw no white worms but we saw black tiny dots in tbe fur not on the skin they are so small i cant see if they are moving does any one know what they might be?

It was proper stuff I don't know what they are I don't know if it's just dead lice or what

I would suggest a visit to the vets - if you haven't already been - to get a proper diagnosis... and confirm what your piggies do or dont have.. then hopefully get them sorted.... good luck

Shop brought spot on is generally not strong enough to combat any problem. Lice are tiny, tiny moving white worm things often called walking dandruff. Black spots in the hair especially around the rump tends to be the egg casings from mites. I would pop them to a vet for correct diagnosis and prescription/advice on appropriate treatment

I would strongly recommend a vet visit. If you saw running lice then they are a definite sign of neglect from where you got them and also a compromised immune system. The stuff you have used is almost certainly not the right strength to kill off an outbreak of a nasty parasitic problem. You really need to see a vet to diagnose what the problem is and then to get the right product at the right strength.

You can check what the black dots are by taking them off, and putting them on a wet paper towel. If the dots turn red, or turn the napkin around them red, it's a flea of some sort, if not, it's dirt. Either way, I'd recommend a visit to the vet.

Guinea pigs don’t have fleas. There’s no type that’s specific to them so they can’t suffer from them.

Only use medications prescribed by a vet. Any ‘treatments’ that you can buy in a pet shop aren’t strong enough to solve the problem, nor will you be able to correctly identify the actual type of problem they are dealing with. Please see a vet for correct diagnosis and treatment

There are no species specific fleas. It's more likely to be dust from hay or egg casings from mites.
