I'm back at the vets (again) this afternoon with Tiny Tot & Gizmo :...
I was only there yesterday with Gerty - http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=35232
It seems they both have something wrong with their eyes. Tiny looks worst - like her bottom eyelid is all puffed up & Gizmo's eye just looks a bit sore.
What on earth is going on? 8...8...
More healing vibes needed please xx

Oh no, so sorry to hear that. Has anything changed with their food / bedding / surroundings? What a worry when more than one is ill and you don't know what it is, I do hope they're ok. Fingers crossed here

The only thing that I have noticed was the last bag of hay I had was not like it usually is & they have been burrowing down into it so maybe irritated their eyes? Nothing else has changed so I'm at a loss really :(

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully, some ointment from the vet will help?

Yes, I changed it this morning xx
It is like a hospital here - just hoping all my others will be ok :...

One of my girls had very swollen eyelid tissues when she had a URI. I was more worried about her eyes than the infection, since the eyes were very swollen and the URI was so mild. For her eyes, she was given Fucithalmic eye drops.

I guess allergies could cause a similar reaction, but I agree that its best to get them checked out and to get some drops. Good luck, I hope things turn around for your gang soon!

Back from the vets

Thanks for all your replies x
Just back from the vets - he put a dye in their eyes but said nothing was visible. He has given me Chloramphenicol eye ointment to put in 3 times per day. I am very concerned at the moment because the vet also said that if it does not go away, he would have to sedate them to look further - is this right? :{

thanks for thanking me!

I've had those eye drops, should sort it and very rare to have to put them out to have a closer look, I'd see how they go - bet they'll be fine!

I don't know about firther treatment, as I hav never been in that position!

My best way of gettiing ointment into squirming piggie's eye is to sit them on a towel on my lap with a bowl of grass, wait until they are absorbed and only then tackle the eye. Success rate of getting something in that way is a lot higher, God bless their greedy little guts!

I know Sophie - that's what concerned me. The thing was Tiny sat perfectly still while he looked in her eye so I really don't know why he would need to sedate her. I think she was too petrified to move, poor baby :(

Sending lots of vibes to you darling Tiny & Gizmo

Poor little piggies, you are having a bad run at the moment, I hope the ointment does the trick. Keep your chin up, these things always come in waves, but you will come out the other side.
