Tips for piggy photography

Hey all,

Hope you're well.

I wish to get some good photos of both of my girls for Christmas; frame them and gift them to my family. I was thinking of adding some miniature presents, little Santa hats and a Christmas tree on the pigture.

I've seen so many adorable piggy pictures on this forum but whenever I've tried to photograph my girls it always ends up in a disaster. They will NOT stay still! Everything is suddenly so interesting and exciting and I'm left with fuzzy awkward photos. Lily sometimes behaves but Rosie is the hardest person I've ever had to work with:flag:

How have you guys done it? Should I keep them on familiar ground or take them to a different room they're not too familiar with so they'll perhaps be a bit more timid? I don't wish to make them uncomfortable either just for pictures, cute as they may be.

It would make my family so happy to have some adorable pictures of the fluff balls.
 
I usually take them out of the cage for a nice photo, I give them pea flakes and tickle under their chins to get them look up, and then I’m very quick and take loads of pictures at once!
 
Top tip….. Take lots of photos…. I delete a lot too!
I usually set up a photo attempt within our usual routine of hanging on the sofa for a bit in the evening. If I try at another time our boys just want to hide. I have a hay pile too…. so all our photos usually have hay in them, or veg, and a couple of cuddle sacks for Hector and Hamish to hide in when they have had enough.

Yep definitely as above, take loads of pics! :) I end up with about 100 during a little pose and you can guarantee at least half are fuzzy as they won’t sit still!
Food definitely helps to keep them in one place and not moving too much as well.
I like to try and get some nice pics on my sofa, because if it’s floortime or in the cage they have their own plans and totally ignore me desperately trying to get a few good snaps despite my bribery and pleading! :))
Good luck with the pics! I think outtakes can be just as funny and great sometimes though! :)
 
You have to be quick, once the piggies are in place. And yes, take a lot of pictures.
But I don't use food during a shooting. My piggies are used to being photographed and on some days they play along and on others they don't.
I use my sofa most of the times and just tell them to sit still. Sometimes I have to be very persuasive. :cool:
But my piggies are really well behaved - except for Odi. We always have a lot of fun. :))
And afterwards there are treats!
 
You could try taking pictures with sport mode on. That way you might just get a non blurry one. 🤣
