Okay, we had Nils-Olof out for lap time and attempted to trim his nails using a baby human nail clipper. I think I might've managed 8/14..? We haven't really tried previously as they don't look overgrown but I thought I'd try to keep the 'quick' by doing a little trim. Nils-Olof was hella squimish - even with some lettuce infront of him. My partner held him but the little one was still scared. My partner also refuses to trim any more nails after making a dog we sitted for bleed a hella lot. So the responsibility will be on me and I'm panicked! Oh Nils-Olof has black nails on all except front left paw, as well as Sven-Erik (other guinea) who has all black. I'm happy if someone can even provide advice on somewhere I can get their nails trimmed nearby me?

i dont know about anywhere trimming nails for you but, hold them tight dont panic, they can tell when you are panicked and it freaks them out, have corn flour stops the bleeding almost instantly, the more calmly and firmly you do it the easier it will get in future. then lots of cuddles and yummy foods for being good guinea pigs. oh and snip at an angle, makes it much less likely that the nail will crack or split.

We have piggy shelters who will trim nails for a small fee that needs doing only once a month. Are there any shelters by you? I have trimmed nails by ensuring they are fed parsley with each trim. They seem to be too engrossed while feeding!

A vet will be able to show you how, we use clippers like this, they are much better and you have less chance of trimming it too low

With black claws use a torch so you can see were the 'Quick' is

I'm just coming to the point where I'm thinking my two new babies need their nails trimmed...I'm hoping since I've had these since they were 8 weeks I can enstill calm nail trimming times in them...my oldest boar is so so wriggly I have to take him to the vets! Good and a strong but gentle hold is what works for him! :)
