What kinds of vegetables should be cooked prior to giving to the piggies?
This question came upon me when I was having my dinner last night (Sweet potato, carrot, potato, and pumpkin, all boiled)

Also, what is Kale? I have never ever seen it for sale in any grogery store, supermarket, or sunday market? (I live in Australian don't forget).

What are good foods to feed everyday for piggies? Foods with high vitamin C content etc.

Many squeaky thanks! 8)

I dont think you should cook anything before feeding it to the piggies...

Kale is the same as Silverbeet, or chard :)

This thread has a lot of good veggie advice! I usually give mine broccoli or pepper every day (for vit C) and add carrots, lettuce or cucumber because they love it! Right now they get lots of grass and weeds too :)) Love summer!

So RAW potato, sweet potato, and pumpkin is fine? I was just curious as these things HAVE to be cooked before giving to pet rats as they are toxic when they are raw to them.

But not all small animals are the same I guess :P. Ahhh I know what silverbeet is, Giant spinich! lol So Kale is the same as that?

I don't think potato is suitable to feed piggies. It's a lot of starch, which is not what they need from veggies. I never see anyone feeding pigs potatoes, but I don't know why.

I tried mine with sweet potato once and they took a bite each and left the rest I hardly ever eat it... Never tried pumpkin as we rarely eat it here.

Yes, Kale is a kind of giant spinach.

No potato please - it is too starchy!

Bad or poisonous foods: potato, any onions (inculding leeks, garlic etc. and only VERY little spring onion. if at all), avocado (poisonous to guinea pigs), mango, any pulses (beans and lentils) except the green pods of green and french beans or peas.

Thank you Wiebke! Very good information :D.
If I don't ask about potato and things like that, I don't know so, yeah lol.
So does this sound like a good daily veggie assortment: Silverbeet (also called Kale?) Carrot, Celery, and Parsley? A little bit of Red Pepper and coriander too :P
