It explains what you should do regarding spam posts - the best thing you can do rather than starting a new thread and 'linking' to the spam thread (essentially duplicating the problem post) just use the report function (if you look underneath a user's name you will see a red triangle near the bottom - use this to alert mods/admins to the problem.

More work is made for admins when posts are quoted/replied to or linked to as the mods then have to remove all instances of the spam....

Fair enough, but I have to wait 60 seconds between each reported post. There's a load of spam on these forums that the moderators should really be cleaning up without people having to report them though.

There is a lot of spam on here at the moment, but I think the moderators are trying their best to keep on top it. Considering the amount that we've had recently I think they're doing a great job. I just wish the spammers would leave us alone in the first place!

We have just about collected enough members' donations to be able to upgrade this forum soon; that should hopefully take care of the current spam flood. Until then, the mods are are trying their best!

You need to press the triangle only once per spammer - or not if other people have done so already (i.e. if the thread has had viewers).

Sorry, that wasn't supposed to sound like a complaint (probably worded it badly), but I was a tad miffed at being told off for just trying to get that post removed.

I've only just come back to the forum and can't believe how much spam there is :(

Like Wiebke said, hopefully we'll be spam-free soon! :))

Sorry, nobody has been telling you off! We are just trying our best to get everybody to know how to best deal with the current unfortunate situation without creating even more work for the mods.

Well done to the mods for removing the spam.

We've had just the same problem on the Fancy Rat forum I help out on - it's unprecedented how much there is at the moment!

I know it is hard to keep on top of the spammers, thanks for your work...

LOL, no worries, sorry for over-reacting :)

I think we have to remember that Mods have lives too. This isn't their job and they are doing this in their spare time. I think they're doing a great job!
