Hello there! This is my first post. I haven't read the forum rules yet since this is urgent.
I work at the safari. Recently we found pups of guinea pigs in their yard. We missed one male and now they mated. I found out that they're going to keep just the females. I asked what with the males and I found out the worst. If we don't find homes forbthem, they'll go to the snakes.
I already have 3 hamsters and my parents dislike them. I was thinking to adopt two though. But there wresting so many more. I published it online and hope to find people to get them.
I need help with convincing my parents to let me keep them even just for awhile. I don't want them to die. Also, I have no idea how to care for them at home (at work they have a huge yard).

Tank you all and nice to meet you!

Hiya - can you please give your country and your location, so we can give you appropriate advice. We have members from all over the world!

Hi! Welcome to the forum! Poor lil piggies...glad someones taking action. I would of probably done the same. I convinced my parents to keep my 2 piggies by showing them the lots of interesting facts about them. One thing that really convinced them is that are pretty docile but also can have some pretty adorable personalities! When they met my friend's adorable guineas they immediately fell in love. Another upside to having piggies is that they dont usually bite but instead give little kisses like dogs! They also purr like kittens when they get happy! Guinea pigs also remind me of miniature bunnies because of the way they hop and play in their pigpen. Thats why i love them so much! Because they are a bunch of different animals combined into 1 small adorable pet! If you end up taking care of them i would recommend feeding them 2wice a day. I usually feed mine some kale, romaine and bell pepper. Warning! Dont feed them ice berg lettuce cuz its really bad for them that ive read...also piggies need vitamin c in their food. Some foods that contain a good amount of this vitamin are strawberries and oranges. But remember to not feed these citrus filled foods to them to often because they can develop soars on their lips after a while. I feed them to my piggies about twice a week. For exercise, you can put the piggies in an enclosed playpen with 2 layers of blanket underneath so they wont poop or pee on your floor. My guineas usually get out 1-3 times a day but since your just fostering you probably dont need to do this everyday. If you end up fostering the pigs for a while...you can clean out their bedding just like your hamsters. Hope it all works out with the lil piggies! :)

A lot of us on here are UK based but there are members from the US as well - hopefully someone can come along to advise you on rescues near California

Sorry for responding so slowly, it's been a crazy week.
Sadly, we do not have rescue shelters for critters, only for cat and dogs.
I'd rather not share my location online, but I'm not from the UK or US or Europe so...
I was thinking to post an online thread where I live, telling people there are Guinea pigs for adoption.
My mom kind of said yes! So I'll take two!
Can anyone reccomend of a thread telling what I'm going to need / how to care for them?

Thanks
x

If your not willing to post your location and there is no shelters near you then all we can suggest is taking them all in yourself or rehoming them on local classifieds, gumtree (UK), Craigslist (US) etc.

There has got to be a reason they are putting them down. Is it for breeding? I can't understand why they are more than happy to keep all the girls yet any boys will be fed to snakes? Sounds like something to do with breeding if you ask me.

I live in Australia, so probably not near you but good luck to the boars!
