I thought I’d put a little memorial notice to a dear little wild rabbit who touched my heart.

The other day, whilst walking my pet pooch over the fields where I live with my mum, my dog tara chased a rabbit, we have a few wild rabbits/hares and even badgers round here but never have i seen a rabbit in the middle of the fields at mid day; the rabbit ran for a while then stopped, as I caught up to my dog who was now licking the rabbit I noticed it’s eyes ears and mouth was covered in a yellowy discharge, and it's eyes were sealed shut. As I held the rabbit in my arms he took his last breath and died in my arms. I can still feel the weight of him in my arms..

We took my dog to the vet who confirmed the rabbit was suffering from myxomatosis and my dear dog had put the rabbit into shock - ending it’s suffering.

I just hope that wee rabbit who I knew briefly has gone to a happier place where he feels no pain.
