So Ive got two coconut and hay cottages waiting for the piggies, and there's part of me like that nope wait until Christmas Day and that's their present, then there's another part of me that can't wait and I want give it to them now! So what would you guys do? Am I being too impatient?

I’ve never done presents for any of my pets at Christmas
My late dog crystal got a Christmas toy every year, and she knew that she would get one present to open, she would sit there watching us open ours waiting for her turn, she did then rip the paper off her toy, and spit it out on the floor. Just ended up being a tradition and something she enjoyed. It's fair to say we will be carrying on doing this with our new pup this year 😊
Although I don't normally do anything Christmassy for my other pets but have this year 🎄🎄

I'm debating the same about my piggies new festive fleecy tunnels... I want them in my advent calendar pigture but I want to save them for xmas too! Although they also have 3 other xmas presents too (carrot cottage, edible star shaped forage tray, and some sort of willow basket with forage and snacks in) :)

Mine were put on their Christmas bedding for their last cage clean (it's been changed now though ☹️) as they have other presents, I say go for it! Let them have the tunnels 😊

I kind of wanted piggy grandma to see them open their presents (yes piggy grandma gave us xmas money for the piggies!) but maybe I'll try take a good pigture of them then have it framed for her as an xmas gift, she's started framing pigtures and having them in her huge gallery of family photos, there are photos of the piggies displayed next to all her hooman grandchildren bless her :)

I gave in 🤣🎄 (its December tomorrow so basically Christmas Day right?) both pairs are obsessed with them. I must say though, they won't be staying in there of a night time, don't think I could cope with the racket of the chewing all night as they're in my bedroom 🤣

If they're lucky, I may make another purchase of them 🎄🎄

Yeah mine will have it from 7am to about 10pm so I'm sure they won't miss those few hours, and I find it keeps them interested in things like this too 😂

Aww, the sound of their chewing doesn’t really bother me, unless it’s the bars!
It doesn't normally bother me, but this week I've been quite ill, and with them doing zoomies, rattling drink bottles, and then my Syrian running on her wheel, I don't think I could cope with the lack of sleep whilst feeling so ill 🤣🤣

You might want to allow them access to these houses for limited periods. Please see this old thread which discussed whether guinea pigs should be fed coconut Can I Feed My Piggies Coconut?
I’ve got one for my girls for Christmas, I did hear coconut was high in fat.Its a very large one so hopefully they won’t be able to eat much from the top.

Omg 😭 I'm actually so sad about this. I thought they would be okay because they're in the same line as the carrot ones. Oh damn. I guess it's not worth the risk. Maybe I'll just scrape the coconut off so there's not as much for them to get at?

Phosphorous is a chemical element. Its importance in guinea pigs diet is in relation to calcium. A piggies diet needs to be more calcium than phosphorous to prevent assisting the build up of stones

Oh I remember reading about this actually! Thank you. I have taken it out today and will probably just give it as a treat Christmas Day

I bought my herd a small (medium) sized coconut cottage...they had it for three days and then it got binned due to one piggy having ringworm.

They do have a large carrot cottage for Christmas. It’s still in the wrapping and I’m not throwing it away. I will spray it with F10. They also have two treat baskets and two grass baskets with edibles in. All for Christmas Day.
