hi guys...
the question is this
to neuter or not to neuter...
here is why i am asking the question.
Chock has been getting very friendly with me and has been making advances...
i've explained that i am flattered but i cant have his pigs but he's refusing to listen to this.
he's been making the "i am very sexy noise" and i really feel for him
I cant handle him to much at the moment as he thinks thats me being suggestive and he trys to get it on with my arm or anywhere really...
he has even been making toilet rolls his transitional soe object which is making him worse.
the issue is:
He doesn't live with any other pigs as he falls apart if there is another one anywhere near him.
he is 4 next year so thats making me worried about putting him under in case he doesn't come back.
what do i do here... i am at a total los...
thanks for reading and your replies in advance.

he's never been like this and i have an idea why he is now
i think there is iether a pair or a herd of pigs in the next street or a cupple of streets behind my house and one has come in to season and thats what's driving him nuts.
he never did this in the last house i lived in and he only started doing this about 2 months bac i think but i have one seriously frustrated piggy on my hands or rather my arm...
I really want to help him but i am really nervice about losing him if i was to have his plumbs taken off as i know its quite a lot for a tiny animal to go through but its not fair to leave him this way iether.

i'm starting to lose sleep over this issue and that could be making him more unsettled as he's very sensitive to my mood changes.
maybe he's trying to comfort me by showing me piggy love but why teeth have to be involved i don't know...
poor little guy...

"advert"

if there are any soes in need of some atention/love, please let me know through the salad bowl...

Does he have a teddy in with him? Maybe he could fall in love with it.

Hi @Maddy. Sadly neutering does not change a male Guinea pig's behaviour. It only makes him infertile. So neutering will not stop humping or general boarish behaviour. I would not recommend neutering if that's the only reason you want to have him neutered.
If his behaviour has suddenly changed then it is worth having the vet check him over into check there isn't something medically wrong with him.
@Garden's suggestion of a piggy proof soft toy is a good idea. Many rescues put in a smallish toft toy for their boars to hump.

Hi Maddy, I had 2 boys who would constantly hump anything! I got them a cuddly bear each that was safe for newborns and it helped a lot. Poor Teddy's but at least they stopped humping each other. Not nice to wash though lol x

wonder what is so intresting my arm though...
i wasn't sure that takeing his plumbs off would change him so that's why i asked you guys
i have tryed him with a teddy for new borns also but he went in to full attack moad and got really upset so i had to remove it before he totally lost the plot...
he's spraying the place a lot too and it doesn't smell like piggy weewee iether...

Do you think a change in cage could have triggered this behaviour off or am i being daft?

i tryed him with another transitional soe object and i feel very sorry for it all ready...

Hopefully it will settle down Maddy, sometimes these things happen and go away again quickly and we are none the wiser. How is CHock today?
