Toast

Wheat is not good for piggies so they shouldn't have it. Stick to natural piggie treats. At the mo mine have Rosewood Naturals Sunflower and Camomile sticks. They only get these very occasionally. They do like the natural forage mixes too.

No, don't give them any toast.
Flours, bread and cereals can change the good flora balance into the gut and can cause GI stasis. I copy for you only a little part of an article posted on the website of an exotic clinic and another very good and informative german website:
about GI stasis the first article says:

"Often GI hypomotility is caused by feeding diets with insufficient grasses and long stemmed hay and/or excessive amounts of simple carbohydrates.
Examples of improper diets include one consisting primarily of commercial pellets, especially those containing seeds, oats, or other high carbohydrate treats; cereal products (bread, crackers, breakfast cereals); and large amounts of fruits containing simple carbohydrates. Proper GI motility relies on the guinea pig's eating large quantities of indigestible coarse fiber, as found in long-stemmed hay and fresh grasses. Most commercial pelleted diets contain inadequate roughage, coarse fiber, and excessive carbohydrates."

about the bread the second (translated) article says:
" The main component of bread is flour, starch, which is broken down into simple sugars in the intestine and absorbed as energy. However, guinea pigs usually do not need these energy / sugar levels and so these amounts of starch quickly lead to obesity and fatty liver. More problematic is the strength / sugar in the colon arrives, here it is eaten by various, unfortunately harmful bacteria and yeasts, which colonize this food in bulk in the intestine. There is an imbalance of bacteria in the intestine. Healthy animals can compensate for this relatively long, in older and sick animals, the intestine tilts and it comes to intestinal diseases, ranging from massive fermentation ( flatulence ) to life-threatening diarrhea."

Anyway be aware that piggies usually go crazy for crumbles, biscuits, bread and so on and my vet told me that piggies followed by him, who have floor time in the kitchen, show gut troubles more often than those piggies who have their floor time in the garden or in another room of the house, in his opinion because of the different crumbles they are able to find on the floor (he warned me because he knows that my piggies are often free in the kitchen... but actually I don't buy any bread and cereals products, hence no crumbles at all even for us :)))

I have not given my Guineas any toast but I had heard that some people do.

Young ladies adore casual get-togethers, and guinea pigs can participate in the fun, as well! Essentially pick delicious products of the soil to be petit fours and treats and set the table!
