My brave little Boris went in for his neutering op at Jacqui Patersons in Stockton. He's home now, feeling a little sorry for himself, but eating his favourite romaine lettuce with no problem at all! Here he is, snuggled away on extra layers of soft fleece. :luv:

He should be OK, was it Dominika who did the op. I'd recommend her as the best neuterer (if there is such a word) of guinea pigs & rabbits in the North East.

There's hardly ever any after affects, just check for any swelling or redness round that area but it shouldn't really affect his appetite after the first night.

Yes, it was Dominika. They were all so lovely there and I could tell they knew exactly what they were doing. I'll keep an eye on his 'bits'!

Fingers crossed for a quick recovery! The fact that he is eating well is very encouraging.

Please weigh him daily at the same time in the feeding cycle and check his area for swelling for the next weeks. Also see a vet as soon as you notice a loss of appetite/weight.

His appetite doesn't seem to have been affected - scoffing his favourite romaine lettuce as though there was no tomorrow! Also eating hay and dry food, and poops look mostly normal - just the very occasional smaller one. Forgot to weigh him this morning, but will start daily tomorrow. All looks good so far... thanks everyone for your advice and piggy good wishes!

Hope he's feeling better soon!

We've just been through this but had complications!

All the worry is hard! But worth it in the end!

Poor little Boris- I hope he heals up quickly and forgets the whole ordeal!

Well, I've weighed him the last three mornings and he's a steady 950g. I'm not worried - everything seems to be in working order!

Rory was neutered problem free, although the downside the girls won't accept him. Too young and full of beans.

When we got him home he was down and wouldn't eat anything, as soon as he saw and heard the girls he was up and rumbling

I hope he recovers well, my poor little boar went through this too but he's said to tell Boris not to worry as he has a lovely wifey pig now!

xx

Very pleased to see it went well, now for the longest 6 weeks of your life! Although neutering is risky and i would imagine very unpleasant and painful, the end result can make it all worth it and hopefully Boris will be able to make the most of the 'freedom' such an operation allows him with the ladies!
