We separated Jet and Biscuit about a month ago as the smooch was too much for me to cope with in a double level cage. Jet and Biscuit are in the smaller upper level (3.5 x 2 c&c) I’m ok with them being in the smaller cage as honestly at their age they potter (the upper level I can swap the bedding daily). The babies have been in the 5x2 lower level. They all get floor time together.

Jet and Biscuit adore each other. Zigg and Binks tolerate each other. Zigg loves Biscuit (she also loves Jet), Binks loves Jet but isn’t keen on Biscuit.

Zigg is having one hell of a season, her and Binks are facing off. The separation can’t go on for much longer. I had thought Biscuit was on her way out so it would only be weeks but she is still going strong. Every time I get the poop smooch under control it comes back (we are in a 2 week cycle - drys up over 2 weeks then comes back). I was going to put the ramps back tomorrow but the smooch has returned tonight .

I could put Jet with Binks but they would be downstairs and Zigg upstairs with Biscuit but Zigg likes a good run so I wouldn’t want her in the smaller cage. I also worry that when Biscuit does die I won’t be able to reintegrate Zigg! Plus Zigg loves the carrot house but I’ve had to remove all non washable items from Biscuits cage as they got covered in poop.

I have the feeling I am going to have to join the cage again and be done with it but I’m not looking forward to wahshing the fleece for the whole cage daily

It’s worse than fox chicken grain :))

One big bonding session might help lots of food new things so not super territorial

Thankfully they are fine as a 4 I just don’t want the work of them all being in the cage as a 4 because the mess Biscuit make sure is too much.

I should explain for those who don’t know Biscuit has cancer and as a result is in liver and kidney failure, which has caused diarrhoea, I separated them to contain the diarrhoea to one level of the cage.

Sending you hugs. I find having so much fleece from 2 big cages changed every 3-4 days difficult in the winter when I can't get it dry outside, a daily change must be hard. I'm always changing the way I do things trying to make it easier but never find a complete solution! Hope you can sort this without making life too hard for yourself.

The girls have calmed down today so I’ve chickened out and put the decision off for another week

The thought of a whole 2 floor cage swap every day is too much. The poop isn’t too bad so I’m hoping it’s not a bad setback and she is ok soon.

Huge hugs, it is really tough to be going through all this. I don't blame you for leaving it for another week... you have to make sure it is manageable for you and the piggies are relativity happy as they are at moment apart from this huge season... Hoping the season dies down and Binks and Zigg can relax a little with each other. Huge seasons are a nightmare :))

Poor little Biscuit. It’s great to hear she is still with you though and that’s due to all the care that you take of them. I’ve been trying all different ways of layering their beds due to constant fleece washing but I keep using it on top of layers of newspaper with piles of hay on top as I feel they’ll get cold! Hubby says it’s ridiculous as they’ve got heating! I’m sure they’d be fine without all the fleece either under the hay and on the flooring!

Zigg and Binks has a bit of a face off tonight, Zigg has spent most of the day on the carrot house roof, that was it Zigg needs company, I put one of the ramps back and opened the cage up. I will have to find a way to cope with the poop but they Instantly calmed down when I put Jet in with them and were so pleased to see him, I can’t leave Biscuit by herself so decision made really. All in together!

I’m now worried about what the heck I do when Jet dies as he is 5! I can’t have just the 2 babies as they really aren’t friends.
