Adult Guinea Pig
We moved house just over a week ago and yesterday I noticed both my girls (5 and 6) had dry/crustiness so the skin around their nipples. Maple has just recently had dental work around a month ago and is thankfully back to her usual self but at that time the vet said he could feel small ovarian cysts but that wasn't a priority at the time.
I also noticed Daisy has slight hair loss around the bottom of one eye. I was worried they would both have ovarian cysts due to the crusty nipples and had prepared myself for this.
However, the vet said he certainly could not feel anything on daisy's ovaries (neither could the other vet she seen when I brought her along to Maples appt last month). He is not concerned about Maples cysts at present as they are not big enough and she is showing no behavioural changes.
He did not think the hairloss round daisy's eye looked particularly like ringworm. Anyway, he has given me a course of xeno spot on to treat both piggies for possible mites. He says the stress of the move could have brought it on. Although he could not see actually any mites.
I have just given them their first lot of spot on and they are happily munchin some grass I have got them from the garden. I hope the xeno solves the dry skin issue and we can put this issue to bed!
