Toffee

It is with much sadness that I have to say Toffee decided to join Fudge over the rainbow two weeks ago. He still squeaked occasionally and would bar bite (there’s a grid that the bottle is attached to) at breakfast and dinner time.

Unfortunately this time there was no chewing and no coming running eager to eat. He was under a pile of hay and my husband lifted him out. We had him inside with us where he (slowly) passed away surrounded by us.

It’s kind of the end of an era as Toffee and Fudge were my first foray into piggies. Of course I love(d) the girls too but they were just that little bit more special.

Toffee was a lovely character, liked a good scratch and would demand it until HE was done - that could be a while My son was very affected - Toff was his best bud.

I’ve yet to lay him to rest, but he will be going in a pot at the bottom of the garden.

We’ll miss you terribly Toff. I hope you’re happy where you are with Fudge, up to your usual amusing antics

Starter piggies are always extra special because they have been with you all the way and and have got you hooked. It feels very much like the end of a chapter when they leave for the Rainbow Bridge.

Be kind with yourself and look after your son, too. Toff was clearly much loved and life without him will take a a rather painful while getting used to.
