Just found Toffee tonight with a very sore eye...don't think she had it last night as we had them in for nail clipping.

It looks opaque and weepy. Doesn't seem to be bothering her too much and she's happy and eating otherwise. I've bathed it with cooled boiled water and got some 'gunk' out of it. It doesn't look like conjunctivitis as her conjuntiva aren't red.

I phoned the vet tonight and the receptionist said she'd get the vet to call me back....she never did! When i phoned 40mins later..they were closed for the evening. I will be phoning first thing in the morning!

I just wondered if anyone had any advice on what it might be.....?

Could be a hay poke, the natural reaction to any eye injury is to cloud up and weep, just keep it gently bathed to make sure it's clean until she can get to the vet, she'll probably be put on a course of Fucithalmic.

Could be a number of things including a mild infection. But you have done right by bathing it. Continue to bathe this evening if need be and ring in the morning which you are doing anyway.

Been to vets this morning with Toffee. She has an ulcer on her eye. While the vet was looking in her eye, a piece of grass seed popped up and we pulled it out. Poor thing, must've been very uncomfortable. Better out than in though! She now has eye drops and we have to go back in a wheek to have it checked.

must be a Toffee thing, my Toffee did the same thing earlier in the year. a week on the drops and it was fine :)

A wee update....Toffee's eye is looking so much better. The drops are obviously helping a lot! It's not weeping anymore and doesn't look as sore. She still has the ulcer but it looks like it's improving :)

We have a check up at the vet on Thursday evening.
