Hubby wasn't as thrilled about Tom coming as I was - he said it was fine by him but he wouldn't be laying the welcome mat out for him.

Okay I thought, thats no problem.

As the week's gone on since we brought him home, hubby is coming round, I've caught him sneaking Tom the odd carrot and chatting to him. Earlier on he was looking up birds online (The feathered variety just so that we are clear!) and he said to Tom, there's you here as he was looking at a picture of a Gannet!

Have piggies converted other husbands/wifes/family members?

My partner hadn't had pets since the family dog when he was a child. He agreed to let me have 2 piggies as long as I looked after them. We now have six, and he looks after them as much as I do! The magic of piggies!

Thats pretty much my hubbys take, he was happy enough for Tom to come but it was clear that it would be me doing the majority of his care which is fine by me :)

my partner didn't know the first thing about guinea pigs before he met me but he's smitten as everything. He wouldn't try and pick them up for years but now that (I believe) all of the current ones have been ours instead of just mine before we met he will pick them up and he's always there handfeeding them treats and giving chin/nose rubs as preferred

My husband was a little hesitant to let me have them because of the work involved in taking care of them. And when I first got them he didn’t seem fussed. But now he’ll give them a treat, rush me when I’m going to feed them (I’m too slow apparently 😳) and campaigns every so often for their veg portion to be upped as they’re grown/bigger now. I used to give in at the beginning but now say no 😁

My husband had never had small furries before and he was amazed how noisy piggies are and how much personality they have. And since we got little boar Theo its a proper bromance, Theo can usually be found scent marking daddy's beard or sleeping on his beer belly or getting secret late night coriander snacks fed to him when me and the girl piggies are asleep :)

Awwww thats so lovely!

My husband has never been a pet person.
He will look after the piggies if I’m away but otherwise as far as he’s concerned they’re my responsibility.
However - he has been known to sneak them veggies if they wheek at him.
I have heard him chatting to them and after Keziah died I spotted him checking up on Merab and Jemimah.
I think he’s more fond of them than he’all admit

I persuaded my hubbie to buy me 2 pigs for my 40th birthday, but he wasn't interested in them. 2 years later he still says he's not bothered, but I've got a web cam on them and have seen all the times he gives them treats when he gets in from work. I've also seen him trying to stroke them and he's admitted he stands watching them while he eats his breakfast lol.
My dad was the same when I was a kid. We had rabbits and guinea pigs which we'd occasionally catch him talking to.

I think it's a man thing isn't it, they say they're not bothered yet in almost all cases they end up coming round to some degree or other! I'm camping with a friend in a couple of weeks time so Hubby will be feeding Tom and hopefully his new friend and he's said he's quite happy to do so!

My partner doesn't see the piggies very often, as he always has the dog with him when he comes over, and he's always said that he's not interested. However, he came over the other day without the dog, and I had each of the boys out for lap time. He asked to hold one, and his face melted and he said 'I suppose they're actually quite cute'. Now you have to know him to realise that this is a REALLY positive comment, so I think he's coming round to them.

I guess I'm lucky that hubby was the one who wanted guinea pigs when we met. He has been keeping them for 20+ or so years now. He only stopped when the last one he had passed away (March 2011) before I moved to UK on Oct. 2011. We adopted 2 sows (for a change in my insistence coz he always had boars) after we got married on March 2012. He said that would be my wedding gift to him. We've had 7 since then (currently have 3, Prince and Cookie both 1 year old and Sierra 5 weeks old).

I don't think my fiance would ever be overly fond of Archie, they are too much rivals, but ironically they are extremely similar, about the only difference is Archie loves being outside.

I’m sure your fiancé wouldn’t mind being likened to a guinea pig 🤣🤣🤣
