Well, I couldn't resist any longer and I've made an appointment to go and see this lovely pair of boars this weekend  ;)

(link now removed as it no longer shows these boys)

My family say I'm the real 'Barmy 4 Boars', never mind Susie!  ;D ;D ;D

Aww, they've been there for ages poor little lads, we saw them up there the other weekend when we picked up our new boy - one of them looks HUGE! Gorgeous :o)

Have you got one of their pigs then?
Our Roo came from there - they used to call him Chubby.

Hi Sammyroo

Yes, we adopted Dylan who we've kind of nicknamed Pickle (cos he was in a bit of one!). He had had a stroke whilst in rescue due to the stress - we initially went up to adopt a pair of boars but Pickle stole hubbie's heart (and then rapidly mine) :) We thought it might be nice for him to be rehomed alongside our other two bonded rescue boars. We got our other two boys back in Sept last year, and Tom and Jerry were up there then, so we recognised them instantly when you posted your thread!

:)

Awww they're lovely :) I like the rabbit on there too, lovely boy

Hi Sammroo

Re: Tom and Jerry - updated

Well, of course we got them - was there ever any likelihood we wouldn't?  :D

Amanda (RSPCA Medway) said that other people who had viewed them had said they 'would take Tom but not Jerry' - which seems very odd to me because, if anything, it is Jerry who is the favourite so far. We both love agoutis and he has those lovely sweet piggy-lips, like Sammy's brother Snug had.
Both boys are really soft and cuddly. Jerry is quite big - although not as big as Roo! Tom seems quite small against the other three boys.

We have put their cages in the same part of the room but not right up against each other. Both pairs have had floor time in the same area, taking it in turns. We have no plans to try to integrate them into a group of 4, they will stay as 2 pairs.

While we were at RSPCA Medway we saw some of the other pigs - I could have pignapped them all ;D

They have so many. Several breeders have given up recently and turned all their pigs over to the RSPCA. Then there is this one woman who keeps enormous numbers of pigs and lets them breed all the time, assuming that the pet shops will take the babies and if they don't - guess where they end up  >:(  by which time some of the baby girls are already pregnant. Apparently under current law, provided she gives them all enough food, there is nothing to stop her keeping all these pigs and breeding more and more.  >:(  >:(  >:(

Congratulations on getting them! And squeeky, I thought you meant that you went and got the two boys and I was confused. ::)

Kimmie

Congratulations, I'm so pleased Tom & Jerry have been re-homed.

Marty :)

Give the boys a big hug from me x

Aw, they look so cute :) sorry to hear you have more coming in, it just sounds like a constant uphill struggle for re-homing centres. :-\

The boys have settled in very well. We have put their cage next to Sammy and Roo's and they all four seem to be happy with that arrangement. Roo and Jerry in particular like to talk to each other 'over the fence'  ;)
Roo is the biggest - well, he did used to be called Chubby! ::), Sam and Jerry are about the same size and Tom is quite a bit smaller so I call him Tom Thumb!
We've noticed that Tom and Jerrry do squabble amogst themselves more than Sam and Roo do - Tom does a lot of rumblestrutting! but as they've lived together for all their lives (2 1/2 years) I guess they just enjoy a good argument,  like human siblings  ;D

They have adjusted very quickly to the indoor life and in particular to the fact that the kitchen is where food is prepared - there is a loud chorus of wheeking every time I go out there - but Roo is still the loudest!
