I’d say no more than once a week, preferably not at all. But just bear in mind that they’re acidic and can cause sores on the mouth.

When I have tomatoes in they probably get them 2-3 times that week but then won't have any for maybe 2-3 months

Mine get them very occasionally - rarely more than once a month, if that
