Hello.
my new piggie, Alfred, is 1,550 oz. and very very fluffy.
The igloo and wooden hides that we put in his crate, that we had for our previous piggies, don’t fit him.
He is able to go inside the igloo but then cannot get out and begins to panic and thrash.
Does anyone have any images or ideas for a good hiding spot for my chubby boy? For now we are using cardboard boxes. Thanks!

A box is just as good as anything. 🤷🏾‍♀️ That’s what my boys have - three to share between the two of them.

My lot love a cardboard box, I love going to the supermarket and finding good boxes!
Other than that I’ve made my own dome fleece hideys, or use the bendy wooden stick bridges (although they don’t feel safe enough to hang out in them often, better as a passing through hidey)
Or you can get extra large plastic hideys from most pet stores.

here are my examples :)

Cardboard boxes are a good option, for woven grass tunnels and houses we always buy rabbit size to accomodate Jezzy floof's fuller figure. Some fleecy furniture makers will also customise if you ask them, after Jezzy got her bottom stuck in a fleecy toadstool with a 14cm doorway and spent all afternoon waddling round wearing it we got Ziggy's Piggies to make some custom fleecy cubes with a 19cm door to comfortably accomodate generously proportioned piggy bums!

OH MY GOSH THIS MADE MY DAY!
I was scrolling the forum and my partner asked what I read all the time on the forum and said ‘read me something!’ I had just clicked on this thread and instantly without pre-reading starting reading out your message. I HAVENT LAUGHED SO HARD IN A LONG TIME!
My partner was looking at me as if we were all crazy, “Jezzy got her bottom stuck in a fleecy toadstool with a 14cm doorway and spent all afternoon waddling round wearing it” I was absolutely crying with laughter reading that sentence.
I’m sorry Jezzy to laugh at your misfortune. But the imagine I had in my head was brilliant. And reading it all out loud to my partner, who was just asking me to be irritating and nosey just made it 10xs funnier.

:lol!:

It was very funny, Jezzy didnt seem at all upset and was waddling about with a toadstool bum hat when I got home from work! The toadstool house is now only for 850g skinny pig Tallulah :)

Would have loved a photo of that moment. Oh how cute, too fat for her hidey

Have you considered looking at log tunnels or rabbit hides?

My piggies often use the top of their carrier (it is a cat carrier that breaks in half) when it is not in use as a carrier. My boys aren't particularly chunk but it has a wide enough doorway that they can pass by each other, lots of ventilation which i think is important as they like to sit there all day and is quite low so feels secure. the only downside is that it only has one door and I have boys but my boys get along really well and it's a bit too big to really get cornered in anyway. Also gets them used to the carrier so it's not a scary place to be when they need to use it for it's intended purpose.

I also have a 'weight challenged' boy with a very big butt....he once got stuck under an upturned dog basket I thought would be great as a hideout but he is so incredibly strong he tends to just turn things over with his head (whilst yelling at said object at the top of his voice). He is hilarious (last weigh in he was around 1.7kg and a teddy so very fluffy..I call him my Charlie bear). Anyway, he now has log piles, big wine boxes (an excuse to buy wine..whats not to love) and I buy him extra large fleece hideys and they seem to work.

We have discussed a diet plan and gym membership but to date he has ignored the conversation..apparently he cannot hear me whilst crunching on his dry food/carrots/hay/anything else he can find...:yikes::yikes:
