Too Much Guinea Pig Food

I know you are not suppose to give them very much guinea pig food. But what is the reason? Is it because they will get too fat?

Guinea Pigs are constantly eating, and they will get fat with over eating (: Although you should always give hay 24/7 but pellets can be limited to help them not become obese.

Thanks! The reason I ask, is i have an underweight piggy. She squeaks all the time and wants fresh veggies. Which she can't have because she gets loose stools. She always has TONS of hay in her cage. But I was thinking of giving her a few pellets if she squeaks.

I wouldn't recommend over feeding pellets to put on weight, unless your piggy has for some reason lost weight due to illness? How much does your piggy weigh?

598 grams. I have had her for 4 weeks. The vet wants to see her put on some weight. She didn't lose weight with us, but I don't know if she ever weight a good amount.
