to much vitamin C is bad for kidney function.
that being said GP's can rarely get enough of it so dont even worry about overloading.
the OD issue is when a human is eating vitamin C rich foods and then they take 10 x 1000mg tabs a day then there may be an issue because the kidneys cant flush that much out.
don't know about the effects in guinea pigs but in humans, the human body can get easily get rid of any excess vitamin c it has acquired as it only absorbs so much. you have to severely mega dose to have any bad effects in humans.
I take 2000mg a day in tablet form as a supplement for my condition (charcot-marie-tooth disease).
