Hi

I've had a look at some other member's setups and am a bit worried about my own. I have three adult female piggies and they live in a Nero 4. They seem really happy, they popcorn, wheek, sleep etc! They all get on very well. But I'm now a bit worried that their home isn't big enough. :-\ ?

Any ideas?

I've added some pics

Sorry had some problems with adding the pictures!

It looks smaller than it is I had some problems getting the depth, but if you look at the cage online you can see the specs

Ideally, the minimum for 3 pigs should be 5'x2'...the Nero 4 is nearer 4'x2'. I used to house my three boys in one Nero 4 (none were fully grown) but then they fell out so now I've got four pigs in pairs - two in each Nero 4.

I really wish Savic would make platforms or something to go in the cage (other than what already comes with them) so in effect make a second level...

Towel is on because they are not far from a window which can shin sunlight on them through the day when I'm at work. Also they seem happier since I put the towel on them. They became more confident and come out of their hidey holes more. I dunno :-\ Maybe I'll try them without for a while.

Don't think I could build a second tier. The cage would be unstable and I don't want them to hurt themselves. Will have a look at the website and see what I can get.

Thanks for the advice xx

Yep I would look at getting/building something bigger for them :)

you could try and get another cage and open it on the sides so they can go to both cages. or you can build a bigger one if your worried about there space.

The towel is a good idea if they are near a window in the hot sun. What I do is drape wet towels over one half of the cage so they have cool shelter if they want.
Do your girls get out for floor time? The cage size is a bit small but not too bad if they get plenty of excercise outside the cage or in the garden.

I would take the igloo out then that would create a bit more space for them to run around in - they have already got one igloo to hide under already. O0

They get to go outside and run around and we let them out on the landing upstairs so they can run around! They don't really do that much though :-\ (inside that is; outside they much grass for England! ;D

The 2nd igloo is there cos Pickles can get bullied by the other two and they won't let her in the big house :(, so we got her her own. She sleeps on top of it more often than not ::)

Like the idea of the towel covering just half the cage. :)

When you let them out on the landing, do you put things around for them to hide in? If I let my pigs out into an open space they hate it, but if I put tubes and hidey holes out then they love it O0
