Ellen is 6 months old weighing in at just under 1000g.

I have just noticed a very tiny lump on her belly. When I say tiny, I mean it isn't much bigger than a pin head. It is right in the centre and nowhere near her nipples.

To me, it feels like a fatty lump as it moves around under the skin and after having several lumpy pigs including Erika, I know what they feel like.

Can piggies get lumps at any age or is she still too young?

Obviously I will have my vet check it out when I next take Emma in just over a weeks time but does anyone else have any suggestions on what it could be and whether she is still too young?

Ooh ha ha it could be as it's in the area where a belly button could be. I had no idea guinea pigs could have a prominant belly button :mal: At first, I thought she may have had a third nipple but it's in the wrong place for that.

I think there was another pig on here recently where a lump turned out to be a belly button, or maybe it was a nipple, can't quite remember.

My Rose has lumps and I think hers were diagnosed at a fairly young age.

Whoops haha :D When she's a teen she might ask for a piercing, be warned lol :D

Ha ha, may be :D Do you think I should double check with the vet? I don't want to look like an utter plonker.

When looking at the lump again, it isn't entirely covered in fur as in you can see a tiny bit if skin like a belly button.

i took eddie to the vets once for the same kind of thing - his was a little belly button thankfully and nothing sinister but worth getting any lumps and bumps looked at for peace of mind :)

I'd start the sentence with 'I'm sure it's her belly button, what do you think?! ;)

There'll never think your a plonker.. :-)

Now I'm trying to think of the silliest thing I've asked the vet. To be honest that question wouldn't touch all my vet experiences. Between the frantic sobbing and fainting I don't think that question would phase my vet.

It was the first thing l thought of when l read your post Claire. Get it checked out but l am sure that's all it is. Nerves frazzled a bit when l thought Ellen had a problem! All calm now.x
