I've never had pigs with teeth problems before but unfortunately have 2 here now that are going to need on-going dental care and just discovered a third with half a bottom tooth missing...

One has half a top tooth missing, and her back teeth aren't great - she's going back to CCT in 8 weeks for a trim.

The other has uneven teeth at the front - a slant on both sets, and her back teeth on one side are longer than the other. She's also going back in 8 weeks.

The one I found today has half a bottom tooth missing and I can't see her back ones....

Will the missing ones grow back, and will they have problems in the meantime? All are eating ok and putting on weight.

Thanks!

Sophie

Spice broke off most of a bottom incisor and it grew back so the half toofs will definately grow back...

as for the rest I am not sure

Are these from the poorly piggies you rescued recently?
If they are putting on weight, then they are doing well ... bless them!

Yes they're from the poorly lot.

The smallest two are gaining weight but not growing very quickly... I've split them out now so the smallest ones are together and the larger two have gone to a knowledgable foster home (ex vet nurse!) for the winter.

I feel so sorry for them. What with that and the joint problems, I do wonder how they will fare.

Have you tried them with liquid Vitamin C by syringe? I reckon it helped Joey lots, for a little while before he passed away. He was old, he was unable to eat much and hence one of his front teeth broke off.

I bought it from Holland and Barrett by the bottle.

I haven't tried liquid vit C but they're on a Vit C supplement from Galen's Garden that you mix with water and syringe down them... although saying that, I've stopped doing it this week - better start again!

Thanks

Hi Sophie. The only advice I can offer is if they are having problems eating then cut the veggies up into smaller amounts. The vitamin c is a good idea to strengthen them up. Sometimes I had to syringe water around my sow's mouth as the veg used to get stuck and make her mouth uncomfortable. Sounds like you're a great mum! :)
