Morning everyone
My GP has a little tooting/clicking noise I noticed this morning when she is breathing it sound like its in the nose, I am at work all day now but she seemed fine eating etc. I have asked my daughter to listen to her when she gets in from school and if its still doing it then I will book a Vet appt.

Any ideas what it could be? Obviously I am hoping its she just need to clear it with a little sneeze.

Hopefully it is just a slight obstruction in the nose from hay dust or pollen. Guinea pigs have very narrow airways and don't breathe through their mouths, you any least impediment is always very audible. You are right in having it checked if the obstruction persists.

Hi just thought I would update. I took her to the vet this morning who said she couldn’t hear anything on the lungs so treated her for urti she said it could be a particularly dusting sawbuat bag as it only started after we changed her bedding. She prescribed 0.5 of baytril twice a day for a week and also to use apple or pineapple juice in the syringe too as it’s sweet and the medicine on its own can hurt their mouth. She also advised on what horses use like a cardboard bedding? I’ve not seen it in the shops only the paper stuff so might look online. fingers crossed she gets better soon.

Sawdust is definitely not recommended for pigs as it can get up their noises very easily.

Use woodshavings instead, and even better is putting a layer of hay over the shavings then they have a constand source of food.

Sorry that was my mistake it’s actually natures own wood shavings we use. I just named it incorrectly. We have always used that but I am tempted to change now and try something else.
