Hi all

So I have one of those metal pens/runs to go on my lawn.... its perfect as I can easily put it away when finished with

My issue is though the cover that cones with it.... its a screen and very thin. ...It adds a little bit of protection from sun but that's about it.

Last year I would put it on and then lay a fleece over top to add more shade.

However I feel it is very flimsy....I'd like a cover which is more sturdy.... but I can't find anything disimilar to what I have.

Obviously the girls aren't left outside on their own... but even when in pottering around in the garden I don't feel they are safe from above

Determined to make something stronger to cover it with... any suggestions though as I'm struggling to find anything

:D You can buy special run covers that hook over the sides of your run. Though this may depend on the size of your run. You can get them from Amazon or "Scratch and Newton.com" They are very sturdy and will offer both shade and protection. Amazon also sell metal runs with attached tops, and you put your run cover over that. They are bird and dog/cat/fox-proof (but not stoat-proof. I hope you don't get those!)

Thank you ☺

The scratch a Newton one looks perfect! I have six panels each 60cm wide. ...think the cover is 126cm X 126cm.... thinking I can use the pages to make a 120 X cm run and just have bit of an over lap on sides.... or try to get hold of two more panels so I can make a 120x 120cm run

It definitely looks more solid than the cover mine came with... which is very thin like a insect net

Thanks for your help ☺

Yes I did think a tarpaulin ... but I want sure how I would secure it to stop it blowing away ?☺

Definitely worth me looking into as I already have a couple of tarpaulins thanks for the idea
