Moose hates me applying surolan around the top of his eye. I'm not keen on it either but it's what my old vet told me to do.

I'm going to a new vet today (cavy savvy) but they could just tell me to do the same thing. Moose shakes his head when I try to put anything near his face and I'm worried it could accidentally go into his eye. I hold him swaddled in a towel, but he squeals and bites as I hold him firmly (but not tight or squeezing him) and half the time I'm sure we do not get enough on his face.

Any tips?

EDIT:
I forgot to add that it takes two of us to apply the medicine to Moose's face. One to hold, the other to apply and we still have issues. My bf is worried that the medicine stings him.

Bumping this up for you

Thanks for the bump, guys.
The new vet (awesome guy btw) has advised that surolan although good at clearing up bacteria, doesn't get to the root of the problem. He's asking me to use canesten in the mean time, but he's ordering in something I can't remember the name of. He said if we get canesten in the eye accidentally, it wouldnt be harmful. So I'm just going to persevere.

One of my girls had fungal near her eye when we first got her - we applied the surolan ointment using a cotton bud (put a couple of drops on the cotton bud and dab on the affected area) - applying the surolan directly from the tube/bottle required us to be incredibly accurate and for a little 250g baby girl not to move - this of course was impossible mallethead

In the two cases ive had to treat a fungal infection i found surolan to be very effective and work very well - if there are larger areas to be treated though other medications would work better
