This morning I noticed my Poppy “winking” at me as she was eating her brekkie. I took a look but couldn’t see anything in her eye. As a precaution I called the vets and got her an appointment for this afternoon. As the afternoon approached I could see her conjunctiva was looking a bit red. This afternoon she has seen the vet and has a torn conjunctiva. It is a clean tear and not yet started healing so must have happened last night or this morning. It is now quite swollen so she is on metacam and antibiotic eye drops to encourage it to heal.
I’ve not experienced one of these “odd” eye injuries before. Has anyone else?

Aah poor Poppy, sorry haven't seen it either, hope she heals well and feels better soon though x

No only had experience of corneal ulcers that come with haypoke! Hope her eye soon mends. It must be so sore.

My Enoch had a torn conjunctiva but sadly it happened before he came to me probably due to an injury and it was left untreated :( Due to this, he often got conjunctivitis in that eye and his cojunctiva would often be red and swallon and he regularly needed eyedrops. But it sounds like you have caught it early and she is receiving the correct treatment :) I hope she feels better soon xx

Healing wheeks and vibes Poppy! We've not had and eye injury so far but to date we've clocked up a badly healed broken leg, obesity, acute bloat, fur mites, and this week ringworm and dental problems so... probably somepig will try gouge their own eye out quite soon! I wonder if you get a GPF trophy when you've posted about all the common piggy ailments...

:( Poor little girl. Sounds like you got it early and early with eye injuries is always key. Hoping the drops will kick in and fight off any infection, sending her lots of love x

I have only ever seen hay pokes. Perhaps she accidently scratched her eye when having a scratch? The conjunctiva heals very quickly, usually within 24 hours. Bless her x
