The word moron wasn't my first choice but i didn't think the mods would be happy with the words i was considering!
So i'm still having trouble with my Leo, well when i say trouble what i mean is he seems happier when i leave him well alone! So much so that i'm almost tempted to keep handling to the barest minimum as it only seems to upset him and i also noticed that on the two days i was actually too unwell to handle him last week him jumped around his cage and made excited noises!
Anyway i'm getting away from the point! I was telling a friend about it who had previously kept guinea pigs and she was telling me about her friendly and loving brood and i'm sat there trying to resist the urge to strangle her, when i noticed a guy was eavesdroping on our conversation. He was an oldish guy, i'd say in his 60's and he leaned over and told me his daughters had had the same problem with a couple of piggies years and years ago when they were kids but he'd found a full proof way of making the piggies love them. You'll never believe this!!! He had deprived them of food and water for a week then got his daughters to hand feed them, thus building up the love!!!
It's not often someone leaves me lost for words but i sat there looking at him for a couple of minutes before saying "So your advising me to starve my guinea pig until he loves me!"
"Worked for my kids!"
When i pointed out to him (most politley, NOT) that that was the cruelist thing i had ever heard and he ought to be ashamed of himself he looked at me like i'd gone nuts and said it was something his parents had taught him. I asked him whether he would have starved his daughters to ensure they loved him and did as they were told and he told me not to be so stupid! Me!
Anyway unable to control my anger i ended the conversation and left. But i can't believe someone would deliberately starve an animal to make it more loving? I wonder if he would have starved the poor little sods to death if they hadn't fallen in the line with the way he thought a piggie should behave towards a human!
