Hi all,
Newbie here! My 9 year old daughter has 3 guinea pigs (explaination of all in rainbow area as we lost one of the original pair she was given)
After Cream died and seeing how utterly devastated Hannah was as well as worry about Strawberry being lonely my son took his sister to pets at home to get 2 baby piggies. After filling in copious forms and showing his ID and then patiently waiting while his sister picked 2 from the large selection available (lol bet that was fun!) he was then persuaded to purchase some toys for them and a silly little house that Strawberry is constantly breaking as her big butt doesn't fit.
From what I've read guinea pigs prefer to play with each other than toys and low and behold they have so far totally ignored the brightly coloured push along wheel and the climbing chewy thingy. Poor Brad spent the last of his dosh on these but I don't reckon they ever going to show any interest!

What's the experiance here with toys and guinea pigs?

Like with young kids, guineas seem to prefer the packaging :))

An empty cardboard box or paper bag with hay in go down really well.

Mine do like the willow balls and I can sometimes hear the bell go on the budgies mirror I put in there.

regarding my butt, it isn't big ,blooming cheek!! it's all... er... FUR ! please remember that ! love strawberry.

toys and strawberry's big butt!

Thanks guys, Hannah will have hours of fun creating toys for them so much better than anything bought, always got lots of toilet rolls (have a pub and it generates lots of boxes and stuff!)

I definately heard the smaller piggies telling strawbs that she was well endowed in the rear region, I think they'd had enough of her breaking the small house and standing on them when she heaved herself in! She really is the funniest creature I have ever seen, the things she gets up to are brilliant, not quite sure how you can get that big on a healthy diet of veggies and hay lol! Poor Strawbs has a lot of issues, she was born missing an eye so looks a little like the bad rabbit on watershipdown despite this she's the most affectionate and placid of the 3.
Often see her tearing around the cage chasing the smaller piggies (in a friendly rather than mean way!) she did have a tendancy to give them little sharp pokes with her head but we reckoned that was her saying "I'm boss peeps" they don't seem especially scared of her and as they all sleep curled into each other we reckon we've been lucky getting them to be such good friends.
