Hi everyone,

We're taking out Tufty to the vets this morning, as she is doing a lot of scratching & nibbling. she has a bare patch on her back & some littlt lumps developing around her body.

I was thinking of taking her in a large shoe box, is this suitable?

Any suggestions, or help, ideas etc.

Thanks

Yep that's suitable :) I'd make a couple of air holes, and put loads of hay in there to cushion her and so she can nibble it or hide in it. In my experience, my guinea pigs never minded going in the car, even when I first got them and they were really nervous. They seemed to like it somehow, and started running around their carrier :))

before i got my carrier i used a washing basket, one of those fold up ones and just put a towel in it and a bit of food x

i used a shoe box for mine stuff it with hay and a bit of food to keep them busy en route :D

As long as it's secure a box is suitable. I usually put some fleece or an old towel in for them to hide in. I also always take their friend with them as it helps keep them calm and you don't get punch ups when one comes back smelling funny.

Thanks everyone,

The shoe box done fine, we shredded a few sheets of kitchin towel, along with a big handfull of hay.

For her first excusion, she seemed very calm indeed.

Home again now, and alls well.

glad to hear everythings well, we used a cardboard box before we got our carrier, I tend to put a snuggle mat at the bottom and a hand towel over them so they can burrow and hide
