Have you decide on the one with the wheels?

Is he able to stay with you on the ferry journey or does he have to go in the other bit?

If he does have to go in the other bit i would get the plastic one or a very secure one. You could always put loads of hay in or a hidey hole so he can hide away. But if you have three of them they will most probably huddle together. I know when i went on a ferry this year from Ireland they has cameras in the dog carrier part so you could see that they were ok. :))

I'm sure Fred will have a lovely adventure!
 
Fred is staying with me... I'd like to see them try and take him away, I haven't even told them he is coming but he will be in a carrier, so I don't imagaine him being a problem! It's just the equivelent to my luggage really :)! I'm still trying to make up my mind... I have no clue which one to get!
 
I've only taken singular piggies on train trips in a standard cat box. It really amuses me when people look in thinking they are going to see some prize kitty! I remember sitting with Milla on my lap for most of the Glasgow to Dumfries journey and having 2 little old ladies coo all over her :)

I think I would check with the rescue folk too - see what they use.

I think me and the piggies will be travelling for roughly 5 hours, but they will have a home when we get to my parents... We're staying for 6 days, they aren't living in the carrier :))!
 
don;t forget to take a water bottle that you can attach to the side of the carrier and try and keep it out of draughts and make sure you give him loads of cuddles!

I'm going to wrap him up in Fleeces :)! And take loads of veg for him :)!
 
This is the best one I found. Anything smaller than 58cm is the same size or smaller than the one my girls go to the vet in and I wouldn't want three of them spending too much time in there cuz it's quite small. You can get 58cm long ones in some online shops for a similar price but why not get this bigger one for not much more :)

Joanne, have a look in Wilkinsons. I got my 2 large pet carriers (which are plenty big enough for 2 dutch bunnies together) for about £5 each but they were in the sale. :)
 
I love Wilko's for stuff like that. I need a trip there very soon for loads of stuff (not just pet). I always get bowls and bottles for my lot there as they are so much cheaper than P@H and they have a treat there - green oats and dandelion and my lot love that stuff.
 
You maybe should check with the ferry company as I've been told before pets either have to stay in your vehicle or go into the designated pet kennels. I've let mine stay in the car in their carrier but with the window left slightly open (I have one of those style ones that opens outwards rather than down).

Can I take my pet to Ireland or Britain with me?
Cats and dogs may travel in your car free of charge on the Irish Sea. For pets travelling on the North Sea, please click here for more details. For health and safety reasons your pet is not allowed onto the passenger decks (with the exception of guide dogs) and must remain in your vehicle.

If you are travelling as a foot passenger, small dogs are only permitted in the passenger areas (Passenger Lounge at the port and onboard) if they are secured for the duration of the crossing in a pet traveller case. However, this is at the discretion of Stena Line personnel and if requested, passengers may be required to place the animal on the car deck in the dedicated kennel area.

Guide, hearing and autism assistance dogs are welcome in the Passenger Lounge at the port and onboard the craft.

This Basically says aslong as the person is happy for my pet to be in a carry case I keep him with me?
 
Not very clear is it - as you say sounds like depends which personnel are working that day and how ameniable they are. I suppose this could be their get out so that if other passengers complaining etc they can ask you to use the kennel.
 
I phoned and asked if it was ok for my guinea pig to travel with me, he would be in a carry case, they laughed and said it was fine! As he won't bother anyone...

I mean come on... can you move the pig he's squeaking to loudly?! rolleyes

I would have to laugh at them!
