I am looking to "refresh" my set of piggie carriers, replace them all with new ones. I will need to buy at least 5 carriers, of the size designed for cats - so I will need to find the cheapest (but nice quality) ones.

Any ideas? Where did you buy your carriers from?

PS If I find some good ones, I'll give the old ones to rescue - no point them going to waste! :))
 
I've got that sort too, but I really like the ones TeresaJ has got - they open at the top, so the blimmin' things can't leap for it like the front opening ones! Much better for scatty rescue pigs, but as yours are all much more handleable I guess the other sort is fine - sometimes feels like trying to deliver a calf though, putting your hand in and rummaging around to find a pig!

This one is from pets at home. It opens at the front, but you can unclip the top half which is useful. I think it was about £20 ish. I think it is for cats! but it is really roomy - I use it for teddy bunny also when he goes to the vets :) Infact I've just looked at the e-bay link that teadragon put on and it's the same. I would grab a bargain if you can.

Thanks for all the replies and links, you've all given me some good ideas!

I also like the top-opening carriers - I have a couple of them at the moment. Maybe I should aim for just three new carriers, but all top-opening ones. Either way, the cheapest would be good!

Will keep searching and see what works out best...will update when I've decided!

It was ok taking my two little ones together to the vets the other day, but when they are bigger they will be squished.

Brought from a local pet shop in a hurry when poor Guinness needed the vet just a week after coming home to us. I like it because it's top opening. We only but 1 piggie in it and our boys are only little as they're still young.

But after reading this thread, I'm concerened it's too small? Should we get a larger cat one?

Those ones are good for very young piggies, and they are fine to use for a single adult piggie if you are taking them on a short journey. Anything more than a short trip to a local vets, it would be more ideal to have a cat carrier - especially if you have to take two or more piggies!

I have one carrier at the moment suitable for 3 piggies, so will buy another one of those to cover my group of six. Then I'll need three slightly smaller carriers, one for each of my pairs. I don't fancy carrying them all at once though!
 
I use mine to carry three boys, but normally I take pairs of pigs to the vet and not all three - exception being yesterday.
 
I've got a tesco one. It works, but it's slightly tricky to open (or it was until I lost the lid :) ) and one of the handles has come off. V cheap though.
