Hello my partner and I have been considering adding two Guinea pigs to our family I've wanted them my entire life and I just turned 30....its been a long wait haha. We have no children nor do we plan to have any. We have one cat named Misfit who is the best most gental cat ever. Our main concern is that we eventually want to buy a cabin 45 mins - 1 hour away from our home in the city. We would like to be there lots throughout the summer and some weekends throughout the year. My question is would our Guinea pigs be ok to travel with us every time we go to the cabin? They would have two hutches one at the condo and the same style one at the cabin, so they feel like they are at home in both places. I read many of the travel threads on here and would make travel as comfortable as possible! But is too much frequent travel bad for Guineas? Thank you in advance!

It is always lovely to hear from potential owners who are carefully thinking things through before getting guinea pigs.
I think your guinea pigs would be fine with regular travel, and you ideas for identical set ups sound great.
We have lots of members who travel with their piggies, and as long as they are in an appropriate carrier then most seem to tolerate it very well.

If you haven't already seen it, then you might find this thread useful
Travelling with guinea pigs

Guinea pigs generally travel very well, much better than cats and dogs. They tend to settle and eat, sleep and chill for most of the journey. My boys regularly travel 5 hours at a time. Make sure you have lots of little juicy veggies like cucumber to eat and their favourites, they will be fine x
