This is my first time on here posting, it's been great for tips in the past.

I need some advice on Guinea pigs traveling long distances in the car. I am planning to move back to the UK from West Ireland, with piggy in the coming months. This would involve a 3 hour journey on this side and then a ferry trip and a couple of hours the other side.

In all honesty i will break the journey down into chunks, for both our sakes! But i am a little worried, mainly about the ferry. I have contacted the ferry company and they say yes to him being in the car, but no chance of him upstairs :( He has traveled over a hour and half in the car before for holidays and he never seems bothered.

Does anyone have any tips, i'm trying to be organised about this move so that everything goes smoothly.

*I know some people may say to give him to someone here, but there is no one who can have him. I had him as a rescue and the move is due to personal circumstances and we are both welcome in the UK so it seems the logical move.

Thank you

If you are moving here then there is no option other than to make sure that the carrier that your piggy will be travelling in has hay, food and water. Maybe you could stop and change any soiled bedding at some point. I don't think that being in the car on the ferry will be a problem your piggy will probably settle down and sleep if it is quiet anyway.
