Treacle Vs. Lumpy - Rounds 1 & 2

Aw what a trouper she is, and so lovely. I hope very much that she wins this round and that lumpy shrinks right down. Fingers crossed x

Small but haopy progress - we appear to have drained all the goop from Lumpy, which means whatever left is tumour. She has at least 4 lumps but there's now no nasty yellow liquid which will hopefully help, as we thought the goo was infection, when it was likely just tumour fluid :)
She now doesn't like coming out of the hutch much as she knows it's not pleasant but she's getting lots of hugs :)

Lumpy update - she is officially not weeping as much as she was before. Had to do a tiny bit of cleaning today but did flush more (4 times) to get the little bits of tissue/residual goop out.
Here is Lumpy tonight, if you can see the first Lumpy picture then you will see the same huge reduction that we have.

As much as we want it to, Lumpy will never completely disappear, as what's left is solid so that is the actual tumour mass, but if we can keep it down then she will be happier :)

I don't want to jinx it, but she might beat the odds that the vet gave - she has had no leakage for 2 days now, and repeated flushing is dredging out the last bits of pus. The edges of the hole are getting closer and she might actually heal! I am crossing every finger :-)

We had a little relapse yesterday in that, during cleaning, there was some blood coming from Lumpy, but I'm sure it will clear soon - I may have just poked or prodded a little too hard, oops!

Oh, I have just seen this thread!
So sad but at the same time Treacle is doing so amazingly! What a strong piggy she is!
And amazing what you are doing to help! It can't be easy!
Go on little Treacle! You are doing great!:yahoo:

I might be jinxing it but who cares - Treacle has been bleeding a little when we clean her (and ONLY when we clean her - no unwanted leakage still, hurray!) because it looks like fresh tissue is forming. She looks like she is healing! It's a slow process but her cleans are needing to be less vigorous (with the flushing out and the scrubbing down) because we are disturbing what new growth is coming. Lumpy hasn't got any bigger and she is in excellent spirits.
Can I get a yay for piggie miracles? :) She is winning round 2!

Here is Lumpy - no bigger and not really a lot smaller. She is wincing when I clean a bit and there is bleeding, but not a lot of signs of healing so we're back to cleaning like when she first started. I don't count it as a bad thing, just the next step of Lumpy.

She is a very happy piggie, chattering away, nibbling for food, squeaking loudly and just generally being a piggie! She is getting old though, but now that Lumpy has gone down we are hopeful that she will get a longer life. She only has 11 days until her life goal of August 10th, which will be her 7th Gotcha Day (and to hell with what my husband thinks, that piggie is having a birthday party. She deserves it!) and she is showing no signs of slowing down :)

That's a very good age, especially added on to what ever age she was when she came to you. I'm glad she's happy, such a little trouper :)

Unfortunately we have had to have Treacle PTS this morning. She had dropped a lot of weight (from 850g to 670g), Lumpy was bleeding quite badly and she nearly choked on her food this morning. She even stopped giving me kisses, she knew it was time to go. It would have been unfair to keep her going but is undeniably devastating.

Ohhh no, I feared it was Treacle when I saw your post on Facebook :( I'm so very sorry for your loss - you did an amazing job, giving her the best quality of life possible given the circumstances. Sending you hugs at this difficult time.

Popcorn free at the Bridge without Lumpy, Treacle x

Popcorn at the Bridge sweet Treacle - no Lumpy there.
I'm really sorry to read that she took a down-turn, but she had been happy to that point, and you had done a sterling job of maintaining her health and comfort. She had seen so many mile-stones, and nearly reached her next - a testament to your care and her spirit I think.
Huge hugs to you - it's hard after going through so much with her, and for her. x

Thank you all for your kind words. We miss her terribly, Bernadette is only now starting to realise she won't be coming back.
Admin, @BossHogg , could you please close this thread? Sadly there's no more to add to it :(
