Popped the girls in the run earlier, went out the room to come back to blood spots. Checked them over and Treacle had a bit of blood by her 'lady bits' - This panicked me but it's definitely when she wee's. She suffers from long term cystitis so I am used to the occasional blood spot with her, but there was just a lot of wee with blood in, during such a small space of time.
She is weeing quite frequently and squeaking a little when weeing. She is however completely well in herself, popcorning and eating hay. She's even just ran Laps with Cookie...

I have gave her some metacam, she's just being drinking her cystease and we will be taking her to our cavy savvy vet tomorrow. Hoping it is just a UTI..

Oh no! What are these piggies trying to do to us?!

It's positive that she seems well in herself. Fingers very firmly crossed that it's just a UTI and that some Septrin will have her right as rain in no time x

Thanks, mind a little easier, the blood is now less in the wee.

She's had a load of water syringed off us, she's a good girl at drinking and will happily run over to the syringe. She's lost 30 grams and at her lowest weight for years so something not quite right, she was quiet last night but has been lively today.
I really hate bladder issues, piggies seem so prone to them. Wish we'd bought that house next door to vets now lol

Fingers crossed for you at the vets tomorrow xx Healing vibes to little Treacle x

Hope Treacle will be ok, good luck at the vets :)

Oh no, Poor Treacle! Good luck at the vets, give her a kiss from me.

Fingers and all paws crossed here.

x

How is Treacle today? x

No blood this morning, up the bars for breakfast - so she is well in herself. Cookie was nuzzling her this morning, I thought awww thats sweet but realised she was trying to lick the metacam off Treacles chin rolleyes

Glad the blood has gone, it did scare me a little because there was a fair bit of red everywhere. Metacam'd her and off to see the vet at 6pm.

Aw bless. Fred is on metacam to, he loves it can't get enough bless him! Let us know how you get on later, very glad the blood has stopped! x

Apparently metacam tastes like feret smells so our vet says... That does mean she's licked a feret though :)) Love to Fred today, hope you ok x

That is a little reassuring. Ditto on the Metacam front - just played of tug of war with Jerry's syringe after his dose!

Perhaps it was just her cystitis playing up a little more than usual, which has been helped by the metacam? x

Aww, bless Jerry x) I did think that this morning as the blood has cleared up.

Hope your little man well today x

What do people think of cranberry juice for use in guineas? I never know if it helps because the antibios kick in and do the work faster. My vet says cranberry is of no scientific benefit, but it doesnt hurt to give it anyway.

We avoid it because Cookie is diabetic, also our vet is exploring a link between a link between candida overgrowth and interstitial cystitis (which 2 of our girls have) suggested by a lady who runs a Guninea Pig clinic with a vet down south - So we are limiting sugery stuff.

Just got back, being treated with Septrin as a UTI. Will explore further after 7 day course if she's still bad, with urinalysis and x-ray. The little monkey is oblivious to worry she's caused and is busy nomming her tea. Thanks for all your well wishes.

I have not seen her for ages and forgot how stunning she is. I want to kiss her!

treacle is gorgeous drool glad she seems ok in herself. hope it continues to clear up over the next week. x

Aw she is gorgeous! We are still battling UTI here, poor Petal was back at the vet's today again :( She still has a trace of blood in her urine so we are continuing Septrin & Marbocyl for another 10 days, that will be 20 days in total :( There are actually no stones involved, just sludge in her bladder which gives her cystitis, in did seem things were improving after the last lost of vet's treatment but oh no :( Lots of get well squeaks to Treacle from the girls here & lots of sympathy too :)

Aw gorgeous treacy, fingers crossed the septrin does the trick and the poor girl and yourselves get a break!

xx
