Senior Guinea Pig
Treasure came to me a while ago at around 10 weeks old. She had been living in a cage with her dad and two litter brothers. She was less than half the size of her brothers, and pregnant. Treasure is a special little guinea pig, she is blind as she has no little eyes. This has not caused her any problems and she has had the nickname 'Whistler' She can do a continuous whistle of about 10 seconds! Tonight around 8.30pm Treasure gave birth to one big 133g baby. The baby was out of the sack when I went in, but Treasure just seemed traumatised by the whole thing, and was scared to go near the baby. She flew terrified round the cage when she touched the little one. After good advice from my forum midwife and midhusband rolleyes I moved Treasure and Baby Bee (you will understand the name when you see the photo) into a carrier, cut Bee's cord and after about 45 mins of me keeping putting Bee to Mum, Treasure suddenly realised she had a baby, and it was just a joy to watch mum cleaning, baby trying to suckle, and both chattering away. I have moved them back into a cage, and they both galloped around popcorning. Just given birth, and four hours old...popcorning - amazing. I am just praying now that Baby Bee is a little girl, then Treasure will have a lifelong pal. Photos were taken on my phone so not the best, but hope you enjoy.xx
