I just walked outside into the garden to find my dad had just put a load of fertiliser on the grass that kills mosses, etc which obviously isn't good for the Guinea pigs (fuming at the moment :hb:). My question is can I put them back out there again ever? And if so how long will I need to wait? I'll be absolutely gutted if they can't go out there again but I don't want them getting ill.

Unsure on this, will keep this thread bumped up for you so hopefully someone can help advise. I wouldn't do it anytime soon though.

Better no grass than making them poorly as you have quite rightly said.

This stuff needs to be rained in. I think the weather will help you at the moment,. Basically you have to judge it yourself but it needs some good rain to get it into the ground and off the grass stems. Once it is rained in then the grass is safe again. So it all depends on the weather. I can't give a specific time frame. It can of course be watered in with a hose if you are uncertain.

There is no problem with feeding a lawn the piggies use, as long as you make sure the feed/anti moss stuff is gone. In fact it can be a good thing overall using a treatment on the piggy lawn as they tend to not eat moss and clover and other things that will eventually overcome the grass, especially as they eat the grass down. If your dad intends to rake out the dead moss than that will help the grass even further and again this is not a problem for the piggies. But raking the moss out is amazingly hard work!
