does neem shampoo treat a fungal problem? or do i need something else aswell? i gave my pigs a bath with it a few weeks ago because they had a lot of dandruff in their fur. it worked and helped, but i need some more because i only had a tester from gorgeous guineas. do i need the melt aswell? any advice would be great! :)

Firstly I would ask if you're sure its a fungal problem? Only my Bill developed terrible dandruff and it turned out to be mites. As both of mine ended up with them, even though they live apart, my vet seemed to think they might be in the hay. She suggested freezing it then thawing it before use!
Anyway, I would consider a quick trip to the vet, especially if the dandruff is accompanied by itching, scratching and a desire not to have their hind legs/back end touched.
Good luck

Neem can help fungal problems, hence Gorgeous Guineas' Manuka & Neem shampoo. Not sure if the Melt is absolutely necessary, I would generally be inclined to use Melts on more severe fungal infections to soften crusty skin before bathing but you may feel differently. Speak to Chrissie if you're unsure. :)

It won't hurt to bath them in an anti-fungal shampoo, especially as cases are on the increase as the weather warms up. However, you do need to know if there is a fungal infection there, as if there is you will need to leave the shampoo to soak in for five minutes and also gently remove the loose hairs that tend to present with fungal skin issues.

If it is fungal then I think you need to repeat the bathing more frequently. I treated 4 piggies with fungal infections last year and repeated the bath weekly with nizoral. It worked well but I did switch to GG mauka and neem wash after a couple of weeks, so I am not sure which was most effective in the end.

As already mentioned check it is fungal. I have a guinea here at the moment with itchy dandruff but it is mites rather than a fungal problem.

they havent been scratching at all but their dandruff is at their rears. i have some mites treatment some ivermectin spot on. if dandruff is at their rears is it more likely mites? they dont have hair loss at all. thanks. :)
