Would treating a guinea pig for mites whilst they're on antibiotics interfere with the medication?

2 of my pigs are currently on Baytril for different reasons but I need to treat them for mites as soon as possible!

Thank you.

I am not too sure, I would call your vet in the morning and ask them.

Thank you, I will do if I don't get a straight answer on here - I normally don't like asking my vets as they always ask me to bring them in when it is unneeded!

I can try to find out for you in the morning if needed, just don't know off the top of my head.

Will need to be tomorrow morning now if that's ok.

Hi, I am doing some research for you, please can you confirm how long each pig has been on Baytril, what they are on it for and the dose.

Hi, the person I was going to discuss this with is no longer giving any advice for a third party (due to some information being passed on incorrectly - not by me). Therefore, unless another member on here knows the answer I think it is best to speak to your vet as he will know your pig's situations, their doses and how the different medications could react with each other. Is it mange mites you are treating for? If so a course of injections at the vets is the most effective method of treating them, either with Ivermectin or Doramectin (as recently suggested by Pebble) so you would need to see the vet anyway.

I don;t think anyone can answer your question with any confidence as there is insufficient information provided.

If you think they have mites I suggest the vet gives them a thorough examination to confirm and recommend appropriate treatment - it may be something else related to their current illnesses that presents in a similar manner.
