Treatment with healthy gp's poo for diarrhea

Hi! My guinea pig has had a kind of a dirrhea since a period of surgeries to his tooth when he needed a lot of antibiotics. The vet told me to do a treatment for him with healthy guinea pig poop in which i should dilute the healthy guinea pig poo in water and then run that through a filter and feed him the water on the other side every few hours. He has been doing this for 2 weeks now, and although his weight loss has stoped i cannot say the diarrhea is significantly better. As my vet is now on holiday, does any of you know is this treatment usually donne like this? Is it usual to take this long? Should I take him to another vet?

P.S.: He was also prescribed an antibiotic at the time, which he has already ended.

Yea your vet is talking about poop soup. The healthy poo will put good bacteria that the antibiotic has kilked off back into your pig. make sure the healthy poo is a fresh one. If you dont like doing this. Order fiberplex off the internet. Or ring around a few vets . Some sell it. Its sais for rabbits on the box. But its fine.

Pets at home sell a tub of probiotic that you dilute into water. Its called vetark pro c

Have you tried not giving lettuce. If your guinea pig has diarhea keep syringing water

yes, he has eaten no greens for the past few weeks

I took him to the vet again, he is now doing a treatment for yeast on his bowel with vinager diluted in water, is this common?

Not something I have heard of before. I had a quick look on the internet about properties of yeast, and I'm guessing that what he is trying to do is restore the natural acidity of the gut to keep the gut flora (yeast) in balance. Sounds like homeopathic medicine for piggies! However I don't know if it will work or if vinegar has other, undesirable, effects. To be honest, if he really thinks yeast build up is the issue, he should be prescribing an appropriate drug - my boar was given Metronidazole for it and it worked rapidly, but he didn't have diarrhoea as a symptom, only loss of appetite and weight, and a gassy tummy.
