since I'm still getting to know my piggy and getting her to trust me i wondered if you guys could tell me some treats guinea pigs love and also anything in perticular that shouldnt be given or shouldnt be given too often, I'm very new to this all but want to make sure i do a good job of taking care of my piggy :)

mine like banana
they can't eat a lot of it in one go so they have a little bit as a special treat =]

other than that- fruit sticks, wooden chew toys, a bit of parsley, apple, green beans, dandelions...they have fresh food once a day and chewable treats in the hutch all the time

i've yet to try my current three on yoggie drops as none of my previous pigs ate them, however i am tempted to get some soon =]

thanks for the treat ideas i put a carrot in her cage the day i got her and notice shes been nibbling on that so shall try her on sum other things :)

^ things like carrots/apples/celery are great because it can last them all day, and as they're more of a challenge to chew they'll usually get tired and go back to it later rather than scoffing it all at once (as long as you give them big enough chunks ofc =])

thanks for the tips i never thought about how long the treats would last etc :)

Hi and welcome :)
You could go to the food section and look up the top you'll see a thread with foods to feed your piggies :)
Make sure if they leave any food after a day, throw it out, it will be not as fresh and that's not good for piggies :)

red grapes are the way to my heart too lol

okay i'll check out the food bit lol I'm still getting the hang of this forum and keeping posting stuff in the wrong sections lol ah well thanks for all your treat ideas

LOL i'd not worry about that, we all do that at times, i still do and i've been on here for 2 1/2 years :))
Just keep looking around, keep a note pad beside you and mark down the things you've found so that you can find them again, that's the easiest when you first start off :)

haha thanks, shopping list for tomorrow then, grapes, apples herbs etc and notepad :)

Guinea Lynx has some good information on foods for a Guinea Pig. I have two copies printed. A travelling copy and a house copy, with that I also printed off The Guinea Pig Shopping List. It is A4 but not so think that you cannot fold it and take it shopping with you.
All our Guineas are different and what our little ones like yours may not.

thanks for the links i'll check them out, i know she likes carrot so I'm gona try cucumber today i think :D
