When I got my piggies, I bought a 'starter' pack from P@H that included some rotastak yoghurt drops and my girls love them (boys hate them, I guess it must be the piggie version of chocolate ;) ). I give them a couple at the end of their evening meal of lettuce, carrot, cucumber celery and cabbage each night. The packet says they're OK to feed to Guineas but I'm a little worried them not being a healthy enough treat. So I'm searching for a healthy alternative.

What do you give your babies when you want to spoil them rotten?

melon......mine love melon as a treat, and a little slice of apple :smitten:

I don't give chocolate or anything like that. A treat for my pigs is some fruit. My rule for treats is if they can't get it in the wild then they don't get it at all. Sometimes I give Hay cakes, they go down well. Try the pampared pigs website they have some great treats and fun things for the pigs!

:)

I'd look at Pampered Piggies if I was you. Natural treats are much better, although I find my piggies would rather have a chunk of cucumber over any treat!

Mine have readigrass and veggies all the time commercial treats are a way of shops making extra profits.

Yeah I never give mine any of those really colourful treats and have now decided just to get the stuff from Pampered Piggies as it's all natural and lots of the treats require effort from the piggy - I think PP is brill O0

Apart from extra veggies the only treats my lot get are dried herbs or dried fruit leaves sprinkled over their dried grass. Most commercial treats including the choccie drops have far too much sugar and other rubbish in.

My pigs lurve parsley as a treat and corn on the cob with leaves on yum yum ooo and grapes

I think I may have been misconstrued :( I only mentioned the chocolate as a human comparison, I really hope no one thought I'd actually feed them that.

Anyway, thanks so much for all the suggestions. I've bought a melon to try and am going in search of pampered piggies right now.

SunshineandTwinkle: what are hay cakes?

Oh no Mona, I didn't think you'd give choccies, they are for us only! :D Hay cakes are like little cakes made of hay they have them on pampered pigs, my lot love them! My local pet shop sells them too but I won't buy from them as they sell animals too!

Mine get fresh basil, it is their all time fave and pampered piggies treats are great too O0

Why won't you buy from a pet shop that sells animals? What's wrong with selling animals? What else is a pet shop meant to sell?!

Pet shops should sell pet products, not animals they have no clue about and buy from backyard breeders.

there are so many animals in shelters that need loving homes, also petshops will often sell animals to impulse buyers, hundreds of rabbits piggies end up forgotton depressed and lonly thru this impulse buying.
Alot of people on this forum will not buy from animal selling pet stores, pet stores can do good business selling animal care products. :)

Yeah I tend to agree that I try to avoid pet shops that sell animals - unless I know the people and they are "sound".
