Do your guinea pigs like treats?

I have given mine treats in the past and they just get left. I have tried different types aswell. Are they good for guinea pigs and are they an important part of the diet?

Mine would much prefer some fresh grass to a dry treat!

Mine are like yours grass wins every time and the shop bought treats are in my view a waste of money

All of mine like the Boredom Breakers 'Naturals' range, especially their chewsticks, parsley bell and mixed herbs. I love them too. The mixed herbs are great to mix in with a pellet to encourage picky-eating skinny piggies to gobble it up. One of my sows also persistantly chewed on the water bottle, soaking herself and the cage and breaking off her teeth on several occassions. Since giving her hutch a couple of chewsticks, she's been fine, the chewing has stopped and her teeth have grown back and haven't snapped off again. I just think they're brilliant entertainment for piggies.
Mine also love going out in the run, but what piggies don't!

I have bought lots of different treats for my piggies, and they too we're not in the slightest bit interested! One thing I have found that my piggies adore are the leaves you find inside a celery. They go MAD for them! That and lots of grass :))

i give mine natural treats such a gingko and natural herbs, they sell them in pets at home, such as:

I also give them these

at the moment i cant stock up as she is closed until november but i get natural treats from www.pamperedpiggies.com and i also get the grass balls they can eat! they LOVE them!

Once shes opened I'm gettin in quick!

Mine dont really like hard treats, i got some from Wagg in a sample size when they sent through vouchers - carrott sticks, and they dont really like them.

Those are the Naturals treats I use too. I swear by them, I've yet to come across a pig who doesn't like them, and I have some VERY picky eaters! :p

i totally agree, they cost a little more but they love them!

Mine love a parsley bell and at the moment I have Wagg carrot crunch stick thingys - which they seem to love as well. Normally I might give them a little bit of fruit for a treat instead.

Fresh food

I think that maybe guinea pigs are like humans, They mostly prefer fresh food than processed food.

most treats have honey or artifitial coulouring in them and can be xtremely harmful for the piggies. so mine just gets fruit and veg. also my pig hates the dried fruit. what do people think about the yoghurt of chocolate drops?

I get my pig some treats if i find anything unusual and looks fun to eat whilst i'm in pet stores and that but she doesn't seem to touch them.

At the moment i have got her Supreme Small animal Fruity donuts and she doesn't touch them but i leave some in her cage just in case it's because she's not hungry then

She's also got a herb ball with fennel and dandelion in it called a Herbal Roller but she doesn't touch it but i keep it in her cage just in case she decides she wants it.

Yoghurt Drops, she will eat but only when she feels like it.

With the exception of the herb ball, none of the treats are safe.Gp`s should not be given yoghurt or any dairy food because their digestive systems cannot cope with them.
The only treats they need are fav.veg.

They did the first day or two but now wont touch them and ive got them all choc drops, yoghurt drops, carrot sticks, corn on the cob thing, lotus beans, fruit treats they dont touch them now though they much prefer there veggies
